Events & happenings
What's happening in Wilmington.
Wilmington keeps a full calendar, and this page is our running guide to it: the seasonal rhythms to expect, the traditions locals look forward to, and the official places to check for dates, times, and tickets. We will keep adding specific events here as we confirm them.
Community markets and festivals make the rounds through the year
Our approach
A neighborly filter, not a feed dump.
There are great official calendars for Wilmington, and we do not pretend to replace them. What we add is a local filter: the events people actually talk about, the ones that make this town feel like a town. When we list a specific event, we link to the organizer so you can confirm details before you go.
Hosting something yourself? Community groups, churches, schools, and park programs are the heart of the local calendar, and we are glad to help spread the word through our roundup. Use the form at the bottom of this page.

We research weekly
Every week we scan the official sources: the visitors bureau, parks, the fairgrounds, schools, and venues around town.
We confirm details
Before anything is listed, we double-check the date, time, and location with the organizer.
We publish with links
Confirmed events appear on the calendar with a link to the organizer so you can verify before you go.
This calendar is refreshed weekly. An open day does not mean nothing is happening, it means we have not confirmed an event there yet.

Thawing out together
Rec league seasons get going, parks fill up again, and the first festivals of the year start showing up on the calendar. It is the season of farmers markets opening and outdoor events returning.
Summer
Festival season
Summer is when Wilmington shines: fair season at the fairgrounds, lake days at Cowan, and tradition-filled festivals downtown. The Banana Split Festival, celebrating the treat invented here in 1907, is an annual June highlight worth marking on your calendar.
Fall
Harvest & homecoming
School is back, the leaves turn, and the county celebrates its farm roots with harvest gatherings and the Clinton County Corn Festival at the fairgrounds. It is also a favorite season for house hunting, while the yards look their best.
Winter
Cozy & connected
The holidays bring community gatherings, concerts, and small-town warmth. It is a lovely, slower season for getting to know neighbors and for dreaming about what spring will bring.
Dates and details change, so always confirm with the organizer before heading out.
"The best part of a small-town calendar is that anyone can add to it."
